My commitment to you: I commit to be present with you, to hold sacred space for you; I commit to be caring, understanding and kind on your healing journey; I commit to support you in identifying your goals and helping you reach them.
Veronica Zacarias, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker #84534
I am a bilingual bi-cultural California state Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience. I received my Master’s in Social Work at San Jose State University and my Bachelor’s in Psychology at University of California, Santa Cruz. My career has focused in working with Latinx Familias. I have worked in many systems, including county mental health, juvenile justice, and child welfare. I am passionate about supporting Latinx families.
“My Chicana identity is grounded in the Indian woman’s history of resistance. The Aztec female rites of mourning were rites of defiance protesting the cultural changes which disrupted the equality and balance between female and male, and protesting their demotion to a lesser status, their denigration. Like la Llorona, the Indian woman’s only means of protest was wailing. ”
My Work and Focus
My current focus is working with 18-40 year old female-identified Latinx individuals. I am trained/certified in many evidenced-based westernized treatment models, but I believe there are many forms of healing, including being heard by someone that understands the nuances of the Latinx experience and culture.
I have been strategically focusing on unlearning and decolonizing my westernized education. My interest is in trauma (racial, generational, childhood, identity) and its effects on the physical body, on the brain and memory, and our emotions.
